Humboldt, IA — Charles Rakestraw, 48, of Gilmore City was involved in a single car accident around 12:30pm on Sunday at P19 and Arizona Avenue.

Officer Andrew Shillington was on the scene and described in the police report that Rakestraw was traveling southbound on Arizona Avenue when the tread from his rear driver side tire detached causing the car to lose traction.

Rakestraw’s 2000 Ford Ranger then crossed the centerline into the nearby ditch on the eastside of Arizona Avenue. The car reportedly rolled at least once and came to rest on the driver’s side.

Rakestraw was assisted out of the vehicle through the rear window by witnesses. The Gilmore City man was then transported by EMS to Humboldt County Memorial Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The Ford truck was totaled in the accident. Rakestraw was cited to be wearing his seatbelt in the wreck.
