Dakota City, Iowa  – The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors discussed a letter Monday that explained the new Flood Insurance Rate maps which become effective in the county on November 3rd, 2017.

Humboldt County does not currently participate in the National Flood Insurance Program.

As a result, property owners in the unincorporated areas of the county are not able to purchase flood insurance.

Humboldt County has until November 3rd, 2019 until it will be ineligible to receive financial assistance for future flood related disasters.

Specifically the county will be unable to be eligible for the 10% non-federal match.
