County Officially Signs Hansen as Animal Control Officer

Dakota City, Iowa – The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors signed a contract to officially detail Merri Hansen’s work as the county-wide animal control officer.

The contract lists Hansen as an independent contractor and she must provide her own insurance and equipment-which includes motor vehicle insurance.

Her duties first and foremost include securing any stray dogs and cats when prompted to by the Humboldt County Law Enforcement agency.

Hansen must take the animal to the veterinarian if the need arises for it.

The official cost is $30.00 per animal.  The contract officially runs from July 1st 2017, until June 30th 2018. All future contract renewals will be in one year installments.
