Live Day 2 Results: State Track and Field Championships

Humboldt, Iowa – The Humboldt Boys and Girls Track and Field teams are back in Des Moines for Day 2 of State Track and Field.

On an otherwise soggy afternoon, the Wildcats were led off by the Girls Distance Medley relay team of Claire Varangkounh, Rachel Darling, Beth Duffield and Bryce Gidel.

That quartet placed 10th out of 24 running 4:20:49, the group missed out on a medal by about one second. Decorah took first with a time of 4:09.67.

Colton Monson ran a personal record of 15.39 seconds in the 110m high hurdles which netted him a 10th place finish. Monson missed out qualifying for Saturday’s finals by .06.

The Wildcats will still have the Boys 4x200m relay team of Drew Thomas, Jamison Heinz, Matt Miller and Denny Pederson as well as the 4×400 team of Kent, Duffield, Hildreth and Curran.

(Updated at 4:42 p.m.) The Humboldt 4x200m team finished 17th out of 24 teams. The team ran 1:33:76.
