Humboldt, Iowa — After dropping a mid-season contest to Algona, the Humboldt Wildcat softball team (15-1) has been nothing but business.

They continued that trend yesterday, with a 13-0 rout over Forest City.

Carlie Thompson was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs batted in, two stolen bases and she also scored three runs to jump-start the Humboldt attack.

Beth Duffield, Avery Terwilliger and Mady Lange each had multiple hits and RBI’s, as well, as Humboldt took control of the game early.

The Cats jumped out for two runs in the 1st, then added four in the 2nd and 3rd innings respectively. For good measure, Humboldt tacked on three late runs in the 5th.

Freshman Ellie Jacobson harnessed her control one night removed from walking a season high four batters. Jacobson earned her 12th win pitching five scoreless innings, allowing four hits, walking one and striking out nine.

Humboldt will host a weekend tournament that will begin today versus Fort Dodge Saint Edmond, first pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
