School Board Election Day in Humboldt, State

Humboldt, Iowa — Today is the state-wide school board election day and the Humboldt Community School District will have three contested races.

In district one, incumbent Janell Smith with be squaring off with Michael Heier. The district three match-up sees Randy Hildreth taking on challenger Robert Myott, while the at-large district views incumbent Suzanne Newton battling with Joe Jacobson.

“I think it’s very important, you know [voting]” Humboldt Community Schools Superintendent Greg Darling said yesterday.

Darling explained that the school board ultimately is the key to success when it comes children excelling in the district and now parents have the opportunity to have a say in who is apart of that success.

“[The school board] oversees the policy, the funding and other items within the district. It starts out with them” he explained.

Voting can be done today at Humboldt City Hall, in downtown Humboldt.
