5-Peat: Girls Cross County Continues Dominance in NCC

Humboldt, Iowa — Another year. Another North Central Conference title for the Humboldt Girl’s Cross Country team.

The #3 team in the state in Class 3A looked the part of the juggernaut they’ve blossomed into last evening, with a dominating victory at River Road Golf Course, placing five girls inside the conference’s top-10.

For Head Coach Dean Clasen, it’s just more hardware. The long-time veteran head coach has captured five girls conference titles in a row, including 8 of the last 9.

It helps to have the loaded roster he has cultivated, however.

Sophomore Bryce Gidel is having yet another sublime season, the youngster took home her second North Central Conference individual championship in as many seasons.

Gidel ran 19:19, finishing seventeen seconds ahead of second-place finisher Aubrie Fisher of Iowa Falls-Alden.

Senior Gabby Kent has enjoyed a dominant final campaign, placing 3rd Tuesday evening running 19:48. Isabella Luu, Lauren Erickson and Madeleine Ruzicka all finished in the top-10 with 5th, 6th and 9th place finishes respectively.

Humboldt finished safely in first — 53 points ahead of Iowa Falls — to capture their title. St. Edmond finished in 3rd.
