Humboldt, Iowa — Enrollment is down this year — so far, at least — at Humboldt High School, says Humboldt Community Schools Superintendent Greg Darling.

Darling explained that 18 pupils have left Humboldt High School to this date. He said the majority of those leaving the High School are because of parents and families moving.

District-wide, 23 students have left since the opening bells rang across all of the Humboldt schools. Despite the 23 students leaving the district, overall the district has seen a net gain of 12 students.

Superintendent Darling mentioned the difficulty not only Humboldt has, but many school districts, in tracking enrollment during the digital age.

He exclaimed that many districts do not even track enrollment in the school year as it fluctuates fluidly.
