Loots Named Interim Engineer in Humboldt County

Humboldt, Iowa — Ben Loots has been named the interim Humboldt County Engineer, following the decision to not renew the contract of Paul Jacobson.

Loots interim contract will run until June 30th. He will see an additional $1,000 per month during that time period as well. Loots salary will now be just shy of $90,000.

Speaking to the media following the closed Loots said he learned a lot from Jacobson during his tenure.

Paul was a good mentor, wish I had another seven years with him. Public relations are apparently the key” he said.

Loots has been with the county for nearly sixteen years, he explained in the media availability.

It’s the transition from the engineering side to the administration side that will be challenge” Loots explained.

Formerly an intern with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Loots took the job in Humboldt County following his graduation from Iowa State University in Ames in 2002
