Gilmore City Water Under Water Advisory

By: Nathan Bloechl — nathanb@977thebolt.com

Humboldt, Iowa — The Gilmore City Water supply has issued a drinking water advisory effective immediately. They are recommending to use an alternative source for drinking water or to boil the water before using.

The Gilmore City Watery Supply experienced a pressure loss Sunday, due to an electrical issue, the report states. Because the pressure loss creates an added risk for bacterial contamination, it is recommended the water be boiled before using for drinking or cooking or that an alternative source be used even when pressure is restored to the system.

Nitrate levels in the water could potentially cause serious health for infants less than six months old.

For more information you can contact the City of Gilmore City at 515-373-6326.

The city is currently repairing the issue and will be re-pressurizing and flushing the system.

They are currently working with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to help aid the situation.
