Dakota City, Iowa — The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors heard a funding request for the Renwick Library, Monday morning.

Library Director Jan Thompson explained to the board that “books and technology [prices] are constantly going up” and state funding is already being sliced.

Thompson told the supervisors that the Renwick Library received a 5% increase last year, and is requesting the same for this fiscal year.

Supervisor Erik Underberg explained that “libraries are very important” and that continuing to fund them is a good thing for the community.

Thompson mentioned to the board that she has also seen an uptick in young adults attending the library as well. The board will take Thompson’s request under consideration during budget time.
