Humboldt, Iowa — A new patrol car will be coming to the Humboldt Law Enforcement center. The purchase of a new patrol car — most likely a Chevy Impala — was made formal at Monday’s Humboldt County Board of Supervisors meeting.

According to Sheriff Dean Kruger, the patrol car was originally scheduled to go into next year’s budget, but following a car-to-deer accident, a patrol car was a must this fiscal year.

Kruger said the deputy in search of the new vehicle “would prefer” to continue a driving a car, in relation to that of a S-U-V or truck.

Kruger informed the board that the prices of the patrol car were relatively low and if purchased soon, it could be in Humboldt and ready for use in a month.
