Webster City, Iowa — Joey Busse (40-3) secured a trip to the championship bracket this afternoon after defeating Ballard High School’s Josh Borg via technical fall, 15-0.

Borg entered today’s match with the #2 after winning his sectional last week in Ballard.

Busse’s victory sets up yet another match versus Clarion-Goldfield-Dows powerhouse Tanner Abbas (41-3). Abbas has bested Busse three times this season, accounting for all of Busse’s losses.

With a win, Busse would automatically qualify for state next week in Des Moines.

With a loss, Busse would need a wrestle-back — only if Carson Johnson (Gilbert) were to defeat Borg in the consolation bracket.

Humboldt’s other qualifier, 220-pound Brandon Johnson has yet to wrestle this afternoon.
