Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt City Council approved a 1.3 million dollar bond for improvements to Humboldt’s downtown area at their meeting on Monday.

The fund are being repaid through a TIFF program that doesn’t actually raise any in city rates to help pay for the project.

Originally, the city was looking at developing just three blocks downtown costing $750,000, however councilman John Sleiter was the one who made the recommendation to do all five blocks of Humboldt’s downtown.

Lighting, sidewalks and other cosmetic features will be upgraded, says City Administrator Travis Goedken.
