The VFW in Dakota City will begin serving breakfasts on every 4th Sunday of each month beginning Sunday, January 22nd. Serving time will be from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Proceeds will go to Veteran’s benefits.
Ducks Unlimited Inc. is the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving North America’s continually disappearing waterfowl habitats. Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than 13.8 million acres thanks to contributions from more than a million supporters across the continent. They are having their Annual Banquet on March 24th at the Pocahontas Expo Center. Door opens at 5 and Dinner at 7 pm. The Kris Karr Band will be performing on Friday, March 24 for 7:00 to 10:00 pm at Gordy’s at Rustix in downtown Humboldt. There will be a free will donation at the door with all donations going to Kiddie Cats Child Care and Learning Center.
The 7th Community Meals from the Heartland event takes place on Saturday, March 25th from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Students Day will be March 24th. Volunteers and donations are needed. 3 shifts of 14 stations will be used to assemble the meals, and each station will be made up of 10 people. Shifts will be 8:00 am to 9:30, 9:30 to 11:00 am, and 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Individuals, Businesses and Organizations can donate or sponsor a station for $400 in their name. The Humboldt County Food Pantry will receive a one year supply, and the rest of the meals will go to other Iowa Food Pantries and then to school lunch programs in five countries to feed starving children. There will be a Baked Potato Meal on Saturday, March 25 from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at the Bode Community Center. The cost for the meal is a free will donation with proceeds going to the Bode Memorial Park

Bank Iowa will be providing free and secure document shredding at the Kiwanis Home Show on April 1st at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds from 9:30 am 11:30 am. Up to 4 grocery bags per person will be allowed.
