Humboldt, Iowa – When Gabe and Cori Pettit of Humboldt, found out they were having a newborn girl they were ecstatic.
Doctors told the Pettit’s their daughter would be due January 11th, 2017 giving them some time through the busy New Year holiday to relax and just wait.
However, their littlest and newest daughter had other plans.
On New Year’s Eve contractions started for mother Cori, then herself and Gabe rushed to the hospital and shortly after the New Year, Cori gave birth to their fourth child.
“We were expecting her on the [January] 11th” said father, Gabe Pettit.
“Everything started New Year’s Eve, in the afternoon, and it progressed right up until midnight and then shortly after the New Year, we had our fourth child.”
Madelyn Kate Pettit was born 8 pounds and 8 ounces and was the first baby in Humboldt County at Unity Point Clinic for the New Year of 2017.
“So far things have been easy for me,” said Gabe Pettit.
“My wife, Cori, has taken the brunt of it, but it seems like everyone else in the family likes their baby sister” exclaimed Pettit.
Congratulations to the Pettit’s and their newest daughter on the unique distinction of being the first baby born in the area, in 2017.
