Girls Win Thriller Again in OT, Improve to 12-5

Humboldt, Iowa – Halie George drilled a game-tying three pointer with just over thirty seconds remaining in the 4th quarter to force overtime, where Humboldt (12-5, 9-2 NCC) outscored Hampton-Dumont (9-8) 6-2, en route to a 45-41 win yesterday evening.

After a Kaci Arjes missed free throw and an Abby Zaugg free throw, Senior Guard Avery Terwilliger raced up the floor and found George unmarked in the right corner.

Without, hesitation, George drilled the three to tie the game up. Bulldogs Head Coach Miranda Valley had one last attempt to win in regulation but Cassie Miller’s runner missed the mark.

Senior Guard Olivia Birdsell iced the game down the stretch with a pair of free throws. Humboldt is now 12-5 on the season and 9-2 in the North Central Conference. The boys and girls both have off Wednesday and will resume Thursday evening in Webster City.
