Humboldt, Iowa – For seven straight years Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church has hosted the Meals From the Heartland food packaging event.
Meals From the Heartland provided packaged foods to food shelters in Humboldt as well as across Iowa, the United States and for veterans across the pond.
“This has been an event that, I think, has been very good for Humboldt-it brings the community together, it draws us all together” said organizer Pastor Gene Broughton.
Once again the goal for OSLC is to package 180,000 meals.
“[We are] quite confident we can make that. As always we are very thankful for the support that is provided by the community to package all those meals” exclaimed Broughton.
OSLC needed to raise $36,000 to pay for the 180,000 which sells at .20 cents per meal.
“It’s a great event and we can’t thank the community enough” Broughton finished.
The event begins Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt.
