No Traction on Engineers Contract at Supervisors Meeting

Humboldt, Iowa – Contract extension talks between Humboldt County Engineer Paul Jacobson and the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors were put on hold at their Monday morning meeting.

Jacobson had until the beginning of May to formally introduce his contract for the 2017-18 year, but Rick Pedersen explained that board has not had adequate time to overlook the language and would like to discuss some “possible changes” within the contract.

Contract talks for Jacobson last year saw him receive a 3% increase in base pay, this year’s contract did not have have any direct compensation language built in as of yet.

Pedersen highlighted that one change he’d like to see between the board and Jacobson is better communication between the parties, as well as with secondary roads projects.

Jacobson’s duties included planning, organizing, and coordinating adminstrative, maintenance, design and construction as well as dealing with special projects for the Secondary Roads Department.

No timetable was given on when talks will resume.
