Humboldt, Iowa – The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors have made a decision on the Animal Control Officer position in the county.
The supervisors announced Monday that Merri Hansen would be the new officer. Hansen is a resident of Hardy.
Hansen will make $30 per animal captured, plus 50 cents per mile.
Humboldt County Auditor Peggy Rice explained that Hansen will not be a county employee and Rice urged County Attorney Jon Beatty – who was in attendance – to come up with contract wording that Chairman Rick Pederson deemed “important.”
The matter was presented earlier this Winter when Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger indicated that animal control calls were taking up too much of his and employee’s time.
