Wergeland Honored by Des Moines Register

Humboldt, Iowa –  Humboldt senior Johnathon Wergeland has been named to the 2017 Academic All-State team by the Des Moines Register.

Wergeland, who sports a 31 ACT score and is atop the senior class at Humboldt High School is planning on attending the University of Iowa this fall to study finance.

Per the Des Moines Register, Wergeland said after he graduates he hopes  “to someday take over my family’s farm. I find it unique to have the opportunity to continue our family’s way of life that has been in existence for over 125 years, and would like to give the same opportunity that I have to my future descendants.”

Wergeland is a member of the football, basketball and baseball teams at Humboldt High School.

He was selected from a group of seniors that school officials nominated. The Des Moines Register then selects ten students from that group that stand out in academics, community involvement and leadership.
