Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt City Council approved the fireworks permit for 4G Pyrotechnics of Belmond, Iowa at their special meeting Friday morning.
The council first visited the topic at their Monday meeting, but tabled to reach better consensus on Friday.
4G will use the Sumner Avenue Bridge as their launch point for the fireworks at approximately 9:30 p.m. on September 6th — the night of the event.
The Humboldt Fire Department will be located at the north side of the bridge as a precautionary measure.
Sumner Avenue will be blocked off at the top of the hill during the ceremony, which shouldn’t last more than one half-hour.
For ease of the display, 4G will have a pre-loaded semi trailer ready that they will pull onto the bridge to shoot the fireworks off.
The shells are considerably smaller than the shells used for the Fire Department’s 4th of July celebration.
