Webster City, Iowa — On a humid afternoon, both the Humboldt Wildcat boys and girls cross country teams picked up team titles at the Webster City Lynx cross country meet at Links Golf Course.
Joseph Kunert, who racked up a second place finish last week, finished with a 4th place finish this week, to pace Humboldt. Kunert ran 17:12. Quinton Orr placed 5th overall and 2nd for the Cats, finishing right after Kunert.
Denny Pederson and Devon Coon both finished in the top-15, with 12th and 13th place finishes respectively.
Humboldt held onto a one point victory defeating South Hamilton by one point. Hamilton had the #2, 3, 6, and 9 runners, however Humboldt’s depth was just sliver better. Hamilton’s #5 finisher placed 37th — Humboldt’s 22nd.
On the girls side of things, Bryce Gidel was up to her usual tricks, with a dominating first-place finish. Gidel ran 19:39. Humboldt’s Gabby Kent finished in 2nd, with a time of 20:36.
The Wildcat girls littered the top ten. Lauren Erickson (4th), Elizabeth Hildreth (8th) and Isabella Luu (8th) all were top-10 finishers. Madeleine Ruzicka finished 14th.
Humboldt’s low score of 20 was 54 points better than second place Fort Dodge Saint Edmond and 86 points better than the third place finishers, Roland-Story.
