Fort Dodge, Iowa — MidAmerican Energy is warning its customers of a scam going around right now. They’re advising that if you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be a utility worker demanding a payment over the phone to hang up right away.
MidAmerican says that they’ve had several calls from customers who have been targeted by this scam. Customers have said that the person on the phone threatened to cut off their power if they did not make the payment right now.
The scammers may go as far as even showing up at your home or place of business claiming there may be an electrical or natural inside the building. They may even say they have a crew coming to shut off the power if you don’t make the payment.
