Supervisors to Discuss Whether to Pursue District Court for Hog Site Near Thor

Dakota City, Iowa — Nearly a week after heading to Des Moines to meet with the Environmental Protection Commission the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors will discuss the option of going to district court regarding a proposed hog site near Thor, Iowa.

In December of 2017, the Iowa DNR overruled Humboldt County saying the farm site near Thor had passed the master matrix.

Last week no action was taken, cementing the DNR’s decision.

With Humboldt County nearly out of options, the board will discuss the pros and cons of taking the matter to Iowa District Court at their meeting this morning.

Assisting in their efforts will be county attorney Jon Beatty.

The supervisors meeting will begin at 8:30 this morning at the Humboldt County Courthouse.
