Dakota City, Iowa — Another relatively major decision the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors have faced in the last couple of weeks was animal control — and where to place the new building.

Today, answers could be in the cards as County Sheriff Dean Kruger will look to approve a building lease for County Animal Control.

Current Animal Control Officer Merri Hanson had been using a property being rented just west of town as the acting building, citing the animals don’t stay there too often as she has been able to adopt a lot of the animals out.

Earlier this year, a panel of veterinarians, rescue owners, Hanson and Kruger met at the courthouse to discuss several possibilities of a building, whether building new or renting an existing building.

Kruger will discuss the matter at 8:45 this morning at the county courthouse in Dakota City.
