County Considers Animal Control Ordinance

Dakota City, Iowa — The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors began preliminary discussion on an animal control ordinance at their meeting on Monday.

County Auditor Peggy Rice will begin to examine the ordinance further and asked the board to help bring ideas when they will formally craft the new ordinance.

Monday the supervisors examined the city ordinance and cited the continuity between having two similar ordinances for the city and county would be great for local law enforcement agencies.

They’ll clearly need to make county-wide changes to the ordinance — there is no livestock allowed to be kept in the city, but the framework largely remains strong.
