Supervisors Seek Planning and Zoning Help

Dakota City, Iowa — The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors are going back to the drawing board when it comes to Planning and Zoning.

The board is looking for help in the department as their interim, Brian Skow, has been trying to resign from the position for the last “four-to-five” months, per supervisor chair Bruce Reimers.

The board will be focusing on contacting other local counties and seeing if anyone would have any interest in picking up more work before advertising further.

County Auditor Peggy Rice opened up the idea of perhaps advertising with the Messenger in Fort Dodge.

The board was generally agreeable on that, but decided they wanted to first attempt to talk to other local counties.

Skow took over as the city planning and zoning director and was appointed as interim for the county in March of 2018.

Skow, an appraiser by trade, replaced former planning and zoning director Melody Larson, who resigned from her position in February of this year.
