Humboldt, IA — Around 5:30 on Saturday, Officer David Jones responded to a two car wreck at 5th Avenue South and 3rd Avenue South.
Officer Jones met with 35 year old Michael Slaikeu of Humboldt per the police report who described the incident saying that he was northbound on 5th Street South when a red van pulled out in front of him after not stopping at the stop sign.
Slaikeu later explained that the lady driving the van, later identified as 29 year old Sarah Bass of Fort Dodge, told him not to contact the police and that everything would be taken care of.
Bass then fled the scene with her car running following the notification of the police but was eventually tracked down.
Bass was reported to have fled the scene because was barred from driving. A citation of failure to stop at a stop sign was given to Bass in the incident.
Both individuals were uninjured and an estimated total of 8,500 dollars in damage was done to the vehicles.
