Humboldt, IA — On Friday night, Humboldt football struggled offensively and fell in their home opener to Garner Hayfield Ventura 27-7.
The Wildcats could only muster 101 yards of offense as Jamison Heinz carried the load with 84 of those yards on the ground and the lone Wildcat touchdown at the end of the 2nd quarter.
The game was controlled by Garner Hayfield Ventura who rode junior running back Joe Pringnitz who finished the game with 172 yards rushing on 32 carries and two touchdowns.
The Cardinals only threw the ball 14 times and outgained Humboldt 408-101.
Garner Hayfield Ventura moves to 1-1 and will play Clear Lake at home in Week 3.
As for Humboldt they drop to 0-2, and stay home for Storm Lake on Friday.
