Humboldt, IA — Last night in the Regional Cross Country meet, the boys placed in the top three to advance to state on the back of a first place finish of Quinton Orr (16:29) and fifth place finish of Eric Wittrock (17:13).
Humboldt (93) easily cleared LeMars (122) and sat behind Waverly-Shell Rock (85), with Gilbert (66) coming in first for team score.
As for the girls, they struggled mightily, with the Wildcats coming in second to last in team score and Bryce Gidel (19:44) having her lowest individual finish of the season coming in 6th but it was good enough for Gidel to advance to State individually as the top 15 runners move on to the next round.
No other Wildcat on the girls side finished in the top 40 outside of Gidel’s 6th place finish.
Next is the state meet on November 2nd in Fort Dodge.
