Hardy, IA — As a series story’s coming up here on KHBT we are looking at notable races in towns throughout Humboldt County leading up to Election Day on November 5th.
First is the mayoral race in Hardy which is between incumbent Kathy Peterson and former mayor Dennis Lippolt.
Peterson is running for a second term as she has been the mayor for two years. Peterson has been in the Hardy area since 1974 and has lived in Hardy for the past 15 years. She credits getting the town cleaned up and decorated for her reasoning for a Hardy resident to vote for her as she wants to do more for the town.
Peterson’s challenger is Dennis C. Lippolt who has lived in the Hardy for almost the entirety of his life with the only exception for when he went off to college. Along with previously serving as mayor for Hardy, Lippolt has served as the fire chief, and on the city council. Lippolt says he feels he’s got a good grip on the mood of the town and doesn’t feel like people treat each other “like the good ‘ol days” and wants to see that change.
Citizens of Hardy can find their voting precinct through a link here which allows you find your voting area by punching in your zip code.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 5th.
