Humboldt, IA — Humboldt produces another Division I athlete as Senior Bryce Gidel has officially committed to the University of Iowa.
She officially announced the commitment from her Twitter page saying that she had always dreamed of wearing an Iowa jersey.
Gidel has had great success over the four years of running cross country and track for Humboldt and has been rewarded with an offer to continue her running career in Iowa City for the Hawkeyes.
Gidel will run cross country along with indoor and outdoor track at Iowa and she says it’s been a long process but her most recent visit to the school is what made her decision to commit.
Other schools were in the running for Gidel but with Iowa, it ran deeper than just competing at the Division I level as she says that she has been a lifelong Iowa fan so to get the offer from the Hawkeyes was extremely exciting.
With every commitment for a student-athlete, the support of others becomes an integral part of the decision and Gidel credits her parents helping the most.
Gidel is in her final season running for Humboldt and is trying to take it all in as much as possible but has her sights set on competing at the State meet for her final season.
Humboldt’s next cross country meet is this coming Tuesday in Eagle Grove.
