Washington D.C. — With the battle of the EPA biofuel mandate heating up, Iowa Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds (R-IA) have recently made statements that they will be using all the lobbying power they have to pressure the EPA into upholding their end of the deal.
The EPA has currently not followed through on revoking their ruling on ethanol waivers, and President Trump has already publicly said that he wants the EPA to change their policy in order for more ethanol to be blended in fuel.
Senator Ernst has said Iowa farmers are unhappy with the current situation and is calling for the resignation of EPA President Andrew Wheeler if nothing gets done soon.
Experts in the biofuel industry say that up to 400 jobs in Iowa are on the line. Currently, four plants have already to temporarily shut down because of the EPA mandate.
