Boys Basketball Playoff Action Begins Tonight: A Primer

Humboldt, Iowa – The Humboldt Boys Basketball team begins their playoff quest this evening with a road date versus Boone.

The Wildcats come in 8-13 and losers of five of their last six and two straight.  Humboldt will receive a boost with Junior forward Eli Sande returning to the rotation.

Sande was arguably one of the top players in his early season work. Sande averaged nine points per game off Jason Hoag’s bench.

Boone comes in highly touted and ranked 15th in the state according to MaxPreps.com. Boone is coming a nail-biting, 45-42 victory over Webster City on Thursday.

The Toreadors are led by 6’8″ big man Gabe Krafcisin who averages 8 points and 6 boards a game. He is the son of former Hawkeye great and current DMACC Women’s Basketball Coach Steve Krafcisin. He played on the 1979-80 Final Four team for the Hawkeyes.

This is Boone’s first winning season since 1995-96 when they went 13-7.
