Dakota City, Iowa — Following the resignation from Melody Larson’s resignation as zoning director, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors were left scrambling for a replacement.
Monday, they found their guy.
The Supervisors named Brian Skow the interim County Zoning Director, a position he was serving for the city for about a month already.
Skow is also a member of the Board of Adjustments.
“[I took] this position to help out the county” Skow said Monday, “I have the skill-set to do it, with my appraisal work I deal with these types of items all the time.”
“It also just so happens that Carl [Mattes] is my neighbor” Skow remarked.
For the last nine years, Skow has been a real estate appraiser, he also has a real-estate license and is familiar in dealing with agriculture and livestock facilities.
“I’ll be verifying setbacks, that’s one of the biggest ones, including land use and hog confinements, too.” Skow explained in relation to his job duties.
Salary and hours have not been figured out yet, according to the supervisors.
“I’m not looking to gauge anyone, either” Skow mentioned.
The supervisors unanimously approved Skow’s hire.
