Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt Wildcat boys’ soccer team improved to 2-3 on the season following a 2-0 win over Mason City, Thursday afternoon.
Lucas Volf got the scoring started early in the second half, connecting from a corner kick, giving Humboldt a 1-0 lead.
Moments later, Humboldt was gifted a penalty kick, in which junior Alex Gonzalez buried for the final scoreline. Mason City had moments, including a PK of their own but junior goalkeeper Joel Osborne was a brick wall in net.
It was Osborne’s second consecutive shutout victory, both 2-0 results over Clear Lake Monday and of course Mason City last night.
Humboldt will battle with CAL-Latimer tonight on the road, with kick-off slated for 7:00 p.m.
