Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a single vehicle accident that occurred Monday near Delaware Avenue.
Deputy Cory Lampe says the crash involved 61-year old, Gary Monson of Ottosen, Iowa.
Monson’s vehicle was northbound on Delaware Avenue, north of Ottosen when it entered the east ditch and over-corrected.
Monson lost control and crossed over the roadway, eventually entering the west ditch. The vehicle rolled once before coming to a rest on it’s wheels on top of a fence.
Monson was transported to Humboldt Hospital by private vehicle and later was transferred to a Des Moines hospital with possible incapacitating injuries.
According to Lampe, Monson admitted to drinking alcohol prior to the accident. A blood sample was sent to the DCI Lab for testing.
The condition of Monson is unknown at this time.
