Humboldt, Iowa — Monday, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors approved a continued building lease with Denise Johnson’s property, west of town to act as an interim animal shelter.

There had been some previous scuttlebutt about the city and county seeking new building, however those continue to be in infancy stages.

Johnson’s property has been acting as the shelter in the interim since winter.

Included in the conversation regarding the building lease, the supervisors also informed that Hanson will no longer be tasked to pick up non-domestic animals.

Hanson had previously been taking in animals such as raccoons, possums and beavers.
