Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors and the Humboldt County Conservation Board will go forward with the sale of the Oxbow property, for the second consecutive year.
Todd Lee, Humboldt County Conservation director, explained to the board that Conservation would use the money from the potential sale of the Oxbow to upgrade Sheldon Park, in which they recently purchased 26 acres.
The Oxbow property is about 1.29 acres overall, with four lots that make up the property.
Lee says they’d like to go the route of a sealed bid process over a true auction, citing the avoidance of having to pay auctioneer fees.
The bid minimum per the conservation board is $150,000, which was after Lee checked with local appraisers who believe that is fair market value on the property.
Because of the sealed bid method, the highest bidder would automatically be given the property — there would be no chance to raise your initial bid.
