Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt Wildcat boys and girls cross country teams both took home second place finishes last night in their home invite at Lower Joe Sheldon Park in Humboldt.
Over 800 runners competed in over six races spanning the different grade levels on a gorgeous night in Humboldt.
Starting with the boys; Quinton Orr and Joseph Kunert placed 2nd and 3rd overall while Eric Wittrock finished 13th as the Wildcats got bested only by Gilbert.
Humboldt’s top five finishers were the aforementioned three above, then Noah Helmer and Devon Coon who finished 16th and 17th respectively.
Gilbert beat Humboldt by 15 points, finishing with 36 to Humboldt’s 51.
Clear Lake, Algona, and Pocahontas Area rounded out the top-five on the boys side.
Looking at the girl’s results, Humboldt’s Bryce Gidel was the meet champion, running :30 seconds faster than second place finisher Aubrie Fisher of IFA-AGWSR.
Elizabeth Hildreth placed 10th overall for the girls, while Kirstyn Beaman finished 20th.
Gilbert won the girls race as well, finishing with 80 points.
Humboldt finished in 2nd with 90 points.
