Fort Dodge, IA — A plan to start the renovation of the Wahkonsa Annex and Warden Plaza in Fort Dodge is starting to come to fruition as it has a received a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency worth $500,000 to remove the asbestos in the building.

The city has had aspirations to fully renovate the Warden Plaza and turn the Wahkosa Annex into a parking garage. Renovations are expected to begin on the Warden Plaza in 2020 as there are still a few hoops to jump through for the city including the full removal of the asbestos and then tearing down the Wahkosa Annex before working on the remodeling of Warden Plaza.

KDG LLC of Missouri will be heading the renovation project and is estimated to cost $35 million.
