Humboldt, IA — Humboldt media was allowed a first look of the new additions to Humboldt County Memorial Hospital yesterday as operation in the parts of the new building is set to begin on Monday.
Chief Nursing Officer Victor Bycroft headed the tour as he led patrons around the first and second floor of the building. Members of the Board of Trustees along with administrative staff were in attendance and Trustee Chair Kevin Bornhoff says he’s excited for the Humboldt community to finally see all the work come together.
Many new services are being added with the additions to the new and improved hospital and Trustee Treasurer Ashley Emick thinks it will do Humboldt a great service locally and regionally to put their name out there as a leader in healthcare in northern Iowa. Emick and Bornhoff both went on to talk about their favorite features with the added space and natural lighting being the highlights but for Bornhoff his was the therapeutic side where new spacious workout rooms standout.

The scheduled demolition of the old side of the hospital is expected to begin soon and Humboldt County residents will be allowed the chance to take a brick of the old building when it is finished within the coming weeks. New parking space will be opened up when the demolition is finished but for now parking could be tight and Director of Community Development Mardi Ratzlaff that won’t be a problem as transportation will be made available by the hospital and for those who need it can call the hospital to schedule their time.
Full completion of the hospital is set for a later date but operation in the finished parts is set to open on Monday.
