Des Moines, IA — The Republican primary for the 4th district in Iowa is coming up soon and Iowa Senator Joni Ernst was asked if she would endorse incumbent Steve King.
Ernst answered the question by saying that she will not endorse any candidate in the primary. Tensions have arisen between King and Ersnt over the recent tweet of President Trump calling out four controversial Democratic congresswomen that hit all national headlines.
Representative King came out in support of the President while Ernst was not, saying the President was not being constructive or helpful with his statement in a tweet. King then responded in a tweet of his own, saying Ernst was not being helpful and constructive going against President Trump’s policies.
Congressman King is running for his 10th term in the 4th district and will be running against State Senator Randy Feenstra, Woodbury County Supervisor Jeremy Taylor and retired Irwin businessman Bret Richards. The 2020 Republican caucus will be held on Monday, February 3rd.
