Driver’s Dryer Damages Railroad Device, Deputy Says

Humboldt, IA — No injuries reported after a single vehicle accident at a railroad crossing this weekend.

Friday afternoon, Humboldt County Deputy Sheriff Andrew Shillington responded to an incident that occurred at the railroad crossing on Highway 169, south of the C-20 intersection. A pick-up truck pulling a grain dryer allegedly struck a warning light on the roadway. According to the report from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, the driver, 65 year old Jay Allen Miller of Perry, stated the top of his grain dryer hit the crossing light and an unnamed individual traveling behind him cleared the damaged light out of the way.

Miller was cited with improper loading of cargo and caused approximately $1,500 in damage.
