Humboldt, IA – The City of Humboldt has set a date in late April as junk pick up day.

Junk pick up day for the City of Humboldt will be Monday, April 20 for 2020. During that time the city will be picking up large items such as old furniture and appliances and electronics.

City Administrative Assistant Christa Brockman says “everything has to be out by April 20, at 6 am. We will not accept anything if it is not put out afterwards”. This is so the city pickup crews can drive around and get a look at how much there is to pick up and plan accordingly.

According to Brockman the city will not pick up construction/deconstruction materials such as dry wall or insulation. Likewise the city will not pick up hazardous materials, tires, batteries or liquids. There is also a limit of one truck load per household Brockman says.

She says that the city will be picking up appliance and other electronics like old TVs and computer monitors. Appliances and electronics will have to have a tag that can be purchased at City Hall for $10. These items will be picked up separately from other materials because they are taken to a different location.

More information about junk pick up day is available online at cityofhumboldt.org or by contacting Humboldt City Hall.
