County budget amendment made

Dakota City, IA – The board of supervisors approves a new budget amendment to the current fiscal year to accommodate for unexpected costs to updates and repairs.

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors is approving a budget amendment for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. During the most recent meeting of the board the supervisors a public hearing was held to adopt the budget resolution. The public hearing was opened at 8:35 pm and no general public concerns were brought forth.

The first area of the budget that was amended was an increase of $260,025 to the public safety and legal services. The increase is to reflect of multiple aspects at for the public safety and legal service including a repair to the tower at the LEC and an upgrade to the computer servers at the sheriff’s office. The second increase in the budget comes from the county environment and educations for $85,700 that is reflected in the Sheldon Park Cabin Constructions, Boone Watershed Allocations and Apiary Inspections.

The total budget amendment saw an increase in expenses of $345,725. There was enough revenue to amend and cover $237,543. The remain $108,182 will come out of the cash balance of remaining funds for the end of the fiscal year which is now projected at $1,959,413.
