Humboldt, IA – The HCDA is working on a plan in order to help local businesses recover following the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns.
The Humboldt County Development Association is finalizing a plan to help businesses recover from the effects of COVID-19. Director Alissa O’Connor says she and her office have been working to formulate a seven point plan for businesses in the county. While details are still being finalized O’Connor shares some details about what the HCDA is working on.
She says the first part of the plan was all about gathering information from the local businesses. The process started at the end of April by surveying the local businesses and learning what they needed help with. That information was then compiled into different categories of ways the HCDA could help coming out of the pandemic. O’Connor says the hope is to release the final details of the plan within a couple of weeks.
With the information compiled, the next step is creating action items based on information gathered. The information was taken by the HCDA and separated into different categories. O’Connor says the next step is to create different action items associated with the categories. Once the action items are finalized the HCDA will begin discussing their focus with the business community.
In total, there are seven areas that O’Connor and her office were able to separate the information in to. The categories are “business retention, financial assistance, work force development, advocacy and promotion, business resources, community growth and quality of place.” Again, O’Connor says the next step is to create ways the HCDA and the businesses can improve in the different area. Create the action items associated with each category.
While the O’Connor and the HCDA continue to finalize their plan they will continue to work hard to support and inform the local business community. O’Connor plans to present the plan to the Board of Directors Thursday, June 11 for approval.
