Official results for the 2020 Primary Election in Humboldt County

Dakota City, IA – The election results from the 2020 Iowa Primary Election has been canvassed, nominees have been named.

The results from the 2020 Iowa Primary Election in Humboldt County have been canvased and are official. During a meeting of the Board of Canvassers the election results were tallied and nominees for the county positions in the 2020 General Election were declared. Here are the official nominees for the General Election in November.

There will be four Humboldt County offices to fill in November. For board of supervisors, District 4, Erik Underberg (unopposed) will be the republican nominee with no democratic candidate filed. For board of supervisor, District 5, the democratic nominee is John D. Myers (100% of votes) and the republican nominee is David Lee (95.81%). For county auditor the republican nominee will be Trish Erickson (52.48%) with no democratic nominee filed. Lastly, for county sheriff, Dean A. Kruger (unopposed) will be the republican nominee with no democratic candidate filed.

On the ballot for the primary for Humboldt County were also two national offices and a state office on the Humboldt County ballots. For U.S. Senate Joni Ernst (unopposed) received the republican nomination for the county and state while Theresa Greenfield  received the democrat nomination (49.07% county votes, 47.8% state votes). For U.S. Representative, District 4, republican Steve King won the Humboldt County vote (43.72%) but the state nominee is Randy Feenstra (37.15% county, 45.7% state) while democrat J.D. Scholten (unopposed) receives their party nomination. For State Representative, District 10, Mike Sexton (unopposed) received the republican nomination with no democratic candidate filed.

All candidates listen for both county, state and national office will be on the ballot in November during the General Election. These results are official and include absentee and vote-in ballots.
