Humboldt, IA – Humboldt High School Softball picks up eighth straight victory as they down Newell-Fonda at home.
On Tuesday, July 7, Wildcat softball hosted the Mustangs of Newell-Fonda, walking away with a 4-0 victory. The game would be locked in a scoreless tie through four and a half innings before Humboldt First Basemen Kendal Clark would deliver a lead off home run in the bottom of the fifth. Wildcats manufactured three runs in the bottom of the sixth after a couple of defensive slips by the Mustangs. As a team Humboldt went 3-18 at the plate, three RBIs and a walk and hit batter.
Key individual stats:
- Humboldt First Basemen Kendal Clark was 1-3 with an RBI and run scored on her home run.
- Humboldt Shortstop Jori Hajek was 1-3 and an RBI.
- Humboldt Pitcher Ellie Jacobson pitched all seven innings, giving up two hits and one walk in 27 batters faced while striking out eleven.
Humboldt softball is now 15-1 on the season and have won eight straight. The next game for the Wildcats will be Thursday, July 9, on the road against Ames High School. First pitch is scheduled for 7 pm following the JV game.
